Croatia still imports more food than it exports

They grew and food import and export in the first nine months of last year.

Exports grew by 19 percent, and imports by 9. The difference is, in money, 789 million dollars. But, unfortunately, in favor of imported food. According to the data which is processed the Croatia Chamber of Commerce, the highest exports:

Fresh fish (7.6%)
Corn (7.2%)
Chocolate (4.9%)
Sugar (4.4%)

There are also sweet extracts, preparations for sauces and the like. And that's what has a surplus for export. Our main export markets as the food is concerned, are:

Bosnia and Herzegovina (18%)
Slovenia (15%)
Italy (11%)
Serbia (8%)

We import all sorts of things, my potatoes from Honduras, beans from Ethiopia, and it is estimated that each of us a year, eat about 24 kg of imported vegetables. However, in the first place by importing food was:

Fresh pork meat (5.9%)
Breads and rolls (4.4%)
Chocolate (4.1%)
Animal feed (4.0%)

The markets from which we import are:

Germany (15%)
Italy (12%)
Hungary (9%)
Netherlands (8%)
